THE FUNNEST WEEK IN THE EYES OF THE KINDERGARTNERS

The week of October 28th is in fact, the funnest week ever, according to Kinder and first grade classes. What are we doing that makes it the funnest?  BTW, I know funnest isn't a word.  Well BALLOONS, of course!

Just shaking the balloon by the tail can be hours of fun for some children but we do lots of other fun challenges.  Like...tapping the balloon with your thumb, tapping a balloon with a partner, jogging and tapping the balloon at the same time and creating patterns with the tapping, head, hand, knee.  The challenges are endless in the world of BALLOONS.

The Fun is Just Beginning!
This week has been keeping our brain working.  We have been doing brain based activities such as cup stacking, juggling and jumping on the mini-tramp.

Next week the second, third and fourth graders will be taking part in THE MOST PEOPLE SPEED STACKING AROUND THE WORLD.  Last year the second graders were part of the 400,000 people around the world, participating in this yearly event.  Each year people from around the globe speed stack on one day to try and break the world record.  This year's goal is have more than 500,000 speed stack on one day.   This day is November 14th.  It is such a great day and the students love doing it!

Below came from the Speed Stack website.

For you geography buffs, the countries taking part in this year's STACK UP! include: United States, Canada, Spain, Israel, United Kingdom, Korea, Germany, Colombia, Hong Kong, Switzerland, Hungary, Chile, South Africa, Ireland, Mexico, China, Belgium, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Japan, Malaysia, Australia, Indonesia, Denmark, Serbia, Philippines, Turkey, Brazil, New Zealand, Afghanistan, Taiwan, Kuwait & Poland. PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT A HUGE HIT

The recently PTA purchased playground equipment has been a huge hit at MDE.  We have a Play Web, an Overdrive and a GA GA Pit.  Yes, a GA GA Pit.  Each class has gone through the safety rules for each piece and began using them today.  Come on out and see what all the excitement is about!

THANKS MDE PTA!

YOU ARE THE BEST!

Great Start!

Great Start to the new year.    My second graders just came to Health Fitness and climbed to the second safety line.  The height did not scare them away as all but 3 students ventured up the six feet to the top.
I will be posting pictures when all the parents have turned in their restriction forms.  Can't wait!

Viewers Like You

I would like to thank all of my followers out there in "Blog Land".  I hope  you are enjoying my posts as well as learning something you may not have known.  Is there something you would like me to write about?
It has been lots of fun this week in the gym.  The weather was beautiful and the kids all had a sunny disposition.  I was able to get through season 2 of Downton Abbey and am looking forward to season 3 tonight.

It is viewers like you that make me happy,

Core, Core. Where is your Core?

It has been a busy week in 4th and 5th grade Health Fitness.  The students have been working hard on improving their core.  The core is the part of the body that helps you stand and sit up straight.  These muscles are in your back and stomach.  They are sooooo important.  The students have been working hard.

Just look at the pictures below and see if you can do any of these core activities.
